Bosch SMI error codes
10 codes are documented for this machine. 5 of them mean you should stop using it until the fault is fixed.
This page also covers SMS, SMV, which report the same set of fault codes as the SMI.
| Code | What it means | Can you keep using it |
|---|---|---|
| E12 | Limescale and grease have built up on the heating surfaces to the point where the machine reports that it needs descaling before it can heat water reliably. | Usable, but not working properly |
| E15 | Water has collected in the tray underneath the dishwasher and a float in that tray has tripped the leak protection system, which shuts the machine down and runs the drain pump to keep the leak from spreading. | Stop using the machine |
| E18 | The machine asked for water and not enough arrived in the time it allows, so it stopped the cycle rather than washing without a proper fill. Bosch specifies a supply capable of roughly ten litres a minute. | Usable, but not working properly |
| E21 | The circulation pump that drives water up to the spray arms is reported as blocked, so the machine stops rather than running the motor against an obstruction. | Stop using the machine |
| E22 | The filters in the base of the tub are blocked enough to starve the circulation pump, or the filter assembly is not locked into place, so the machine cannot move water round the wash arms properly. | Usable, but not working properly |
| E23 | The machine has detected a fault in the waste water pump circuit. Either the pump is not running when it is told to, or it is drawing current outside the range the control board expects. | Stop using the machine |
| E24 | The dishwasher tried to pump the water out and the level in the tub did not drop, so it stopped mid-cycle with dirty water still standing in the bottom. | Stop using the machine |
| E25 | The drain pump is jammed or its cover is not seated, so the impeller cannot turn and the machine stops rather than burning the motor out trying. | Stop using the machine |
| E27 | The supply voltage reaching the dishwasher has dropped below the level it needs, so it halts the cycle. Bosch describes this as the mains falling to roughly 170 volts or lower. It reports a problem with the electricity supply rather than a fault inside the machine. | Usable, but not working properly |
| H01 | This is not a fault. The delay start timer is set, and the number shown is how many hours the machine will wait before it begins washing. | Information only |
